The 1974 Harper team cleans up North York and takes on the best of three Playoffs series for representing Etobicoke in the Ontario Amateur Softball Championship (Provincials).

Scores are impressive with Harpers solid pitching and powerful bats. The victories over Don Mills team Don Victoria 17-3 & Avenue Rd 10-0 shows that. Richmond Hill win of 5-1, seem to more of a challenge. They beat Scarborough 10-3 to advance to the Metro Championship.

They beat Eringate by one run. The 3-2 win came after a pitchers battle and a few errors on Eringate’s behalf.

It seems that this team did very well or it was two different teams. Finalists are usually 2nd place team, unless they were awarded the badge for making it to the final round to acquire the championship.

In 1972 the Alderwood Bantam Boys Select team won the Etobicoke Championship and went on to compete in the all Ontario championships in Scarborough. Note the picture above of the team and the team’s dugout witch seems to be lacking any protective cages.

In 1973 the Junior Boys rep team (17 yr old) would be the first and only Alderwood boys team to win the All Etobicoke Championship and go on to win the Ontario Amateur Softball Assoc Championship.
